It has a peel off backing that exposes a very high tack layer of adhesive that will stick to almost anything. It cuts cleanly and remains perfectly flat when laid. It has the correct degree of absorbency to accept ballasting and leaves a perfect job every time. It comes in its natural colour of black and comes in 3mm thickness for "OO", "EM" or "P4" scales and 5mm thickness for "O" Gauge.
